Your new house has a pre-installed security system
Many times after you close on a house, you’ll see that the previous owners didn’t take a smart home system. All the components work, are installed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and start a new contract. A Vivint installer will still come out to ensure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you make additions.
The previous owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to your family for a small set-up cost to make the process easier. If the previous owners are downsizing to an apartment or retirement community, you keeping the security service may be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your existing equipment with you
You may want to bring along your favorite smart devices with you to your new house when you move. It should be pretty simple to do, as modern smart devices are wireless. You can remove each component yourself or contact a professional expert to take down everything. Then a pro will put in the same components -- and any new items you need -- in the new place. And your home security contract will stay the same.
